2023 – A year in review.

Now’s the ideal time to reflect on 2023 with a Year in Review for Clear Insurance.

We all know the year is ending as quickly as it started. However, time flies when you’re having fun, and we’ve plenty to celebrate despite the harsh economic climate.

Business Changes

In 2023, we secured our Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) and became part of Australasia’s largest general insurance broker network, Steadfast.

For you, our clients and prospective clients, we can leverage Steadfast’s scale to ensure you have access to more insurance companies, a broader range of products, exclusive policy options and competitive pricing.

You also have the added benefit of Clear Insurance and Steadfast behind you when you need to make a claim.

New Starters

This year, we welcomed Tiahna McDonald and Will Burke to the team.

Tiahna brings over 15 years of general insurance expertise to the team. After a quick transition back after maternity leave, she secured a promotion to Clear Executive and a book of clients. She’s an incredible asset to our client service team.

Will is a superb help to our Clear Assistants. He graduated high school in 2022 and managed to juggle helping us out when he could with the demands of his childhood dream vocation in the aviation industry.

Career Development

It has been quite the year for our Clear Leader, Jen Bettridge. She celebrated her third year at Clear, became a Clear Director, and started the Aspire Women Leaders Program.

The Aspire program is a year-long development program for female insurance intermediaries looking to become future business leaders. It equips Jen with the executive skills required to support excellence in a senior leadership position.

Our marketing executive, Tara Burke, honed her brand management skills by completing the Mini MBA in Brand Management under the tuition of leading marketing professor and brand consultant Mark Ritson.

Knowledge Sharing

Following the Telstra Awards in March 2023, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) invited our Clear CEO, Lisa Carter, to sit on the Small Business Finance Advisory Panel for three years as the only Queensland and insurance industry representative. Once a year, Lisa flies down to Sydney to share her knowledge and experiences with the RBA Governor and Reserve Bank analysts.

Lisa also reprised her role as a Mentor to Holly McDonald, Acting Claims Lead at Strata Unit Underwriters on the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) mentoring program.

Jen had the honour of accepting an invitation to join the Insurance Business Magazine Editorial panel, enabling her to share expertise to help others.

Community Support

The team were active again this year, taking the opportunity to invite insurers to join our weekly PT sessions. It was a fun way to mix business with healthy living.

We set aside time to participate in the Epic Walk, raising funds to support women and children impacted by Domestic Violence.

As well, we joined High Street Underwriting at the Variety QLD Active Inclusion Sports Day, helping special needs children enjoy mainstream sports, from hockey and cricket to soccer and dance. It was a heartwarming day for all.

Awards

We kicked off the year as a QLD State Finalist for the Accelerating Women category at the Telstra Best of Business Awards 2023. It’s a fantastic achievement for the team.

Insurance Business Awards selected Clear Insurance as an excellence awardee for Brokerage of the Year 6-20 staff. They also featured Lisa and Jen in their Hot List, Elite Women in Insurance, Top Insurance Broker and Elite Broker lists for 2023.

Supporting Local Business

As part of our tenure as the risk and insurance industry experts for Queensland Leaders, we continue to mentor business leaders and educate members on issues relating to risk and insurance.

We supported the St Margaret’s Professional Women’s Network breakfast series through sponsorship. The events attract high calibre speakers that are always a hit with our clients. Above all, the event profits provide bursaries and scholarships for regional Indigenous students through the St Margaret’s Foundation Endowment Fund.

We remain committed to supporting local businesses and ensuring local suppliers are our first port of call for printing, flowers, catering, and any other services we may need.

The Year Ahead

For us, 2024 is about living and breathing our core values of care, clarity, and competency.

Whether it’s making insurance easy for our clients, supporting our staff, or working with our industry partners, our brand values will always guide everything we do.

We’re ready to go, see you in 2024!
